The date and customs may vary from country to country but the

football, and marks the unofficial beginning to the winter holiday
season."

on Thanksgiving
" In the U.S.A. we celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend. For
some years now, I and my family have enjoyed recalling the story
of the first Thanksgiving by reading this week's devotional as
we sit before our Thanksgiving feast. On the table before us,
our plates are empty, save for five kernels of corn - lest we
should forget."

The
Silver Party
by Louisa May Alcott
It was Thanksgiving Day, but poor Tony was stuck home from church
with a cold. Tony's life takes an Alice in Wonderland turn when
he closes his eyes for a luxiourious yawn, only to discover
on opening them that the silver on the dining room table is
having a party of its own. He soon learns a lesson in manners
and privately resolved[s] to follow Madam Gravy Ladle's advice
to keep his own face bright, manners polite, and speech kindly,
that he might prove himself to be pure silver, and be stamped
a gentleman. |
