In a recent homeschool co-op session your friendly neighborhood editor was suckered...er...she volunteered to teach Creative Writing to a group of second through sixth graders. What were her second and third acts after this burst of mild insanity? She prayed, and she headed to the bookstore in search of resources.

The primary challenge was in the wide range I was dealing with. How, truly, do you interest both the second and the sixth grader in the same lesson? To be honest, I didn't manage it nearly as often as I would have liked, but when I did it was usually after consulting this book.

Love to Write! contains no less than 126 reproducible activity pages covering just about every facet of creative writing you can think of - and some you probably won't think of on your own. Geared towards third through sixth graders, it's great for teaching several siblings (or a co-op class!) at one time. The lessons are presented simply and entertainingly, and the activities are not intimidating.

Sometimes I photocopied the activity sheets and at other times I merely referred to the book and adapted the lessons to the needs of my class. Whichever way I used it, Love to Write!'s activities - through their ability to capture my young friends' imaginations and help them understand new concepts - proved over and over again that the book had been a wise investment.
